FAMILY TREE MURAL

I was contacted by a lovely couple hoping I could help them with a project.
They had a lifetime of framed family photographs stored away in a cupboard and wanted to bring them together putting them on display, in some special way.

They weren’t sure on how or what they wanted, so we had a chat. They described their love for colour, plants and flowers (right up my alley)

The end result certainly brightens up the garage wall and pays homage to a wonderful proud family.

It was my absolute pleasure to paint this for these lovely people. I loved our chats together as I painted & hearing the stories about each of the people within the photographs. I felt as if I got to know the family and their captured memories within the photos as each was spoken about with such fondness and love. It was such a very special wall to paint.

HOME / WORK INSTALLATION

Metro Tunnel Creative Arts and South Yarra Cross Partnerships

My work was selected along with 30 other artists to be on display from now till mid March in Franklin Street Melbourne CBD, next to the City Baths ...the exhibition shows various artists working from home in their studio/office during Covid 19.

We were asked to submit 100 words describing our Home/Work setup up during Covid 19. Once selected we were then asked to provide an image capturing our description.

Working in my home studio, in our upstairs loft. Paint splattered carpet and pastel orange walls are my sanctuary. To work, I angle each canvas to capture the natural light that floods through the lone sky light. I expertly navigate my way through clean washing while holding dripping paint brushes, eager to reach the trough to clean them. I often have my dog and side kick Edward laying near by dozing as we both listen to music. My children undoubtedly will run up and down the stairs eager to "help" and needing Mum to resolve disputes. It's chaotic beauty.

And a special thanks to @michellekelcey for taking the photograph that captured my typical studio scene.

REGENERATION

Art in The Sticks, Coles S.A.

I was a approached by the organiser of this event and asked to create a design on the theme of "Regeneration."

Onlookers watched the progression of this mural unfold as I painted it live over the duration of  long weekend arts festival.

PENOLA COONAWARRA ARTS FESTIVAL

Collaborative Mural, Penola, S.A.

I had the pleasure of helping a fellow artist friend paint this mural live over the weekend of a community arts festival. Her design had won the annual logo competition that was used to promote the arts festival throughout the community. As a result we were asked to paint it onto the local vets wall. Incorporating animals into the design was a fun and whimsical finishing touch, that the whole township now enjoys as they pass through the main street of Penola.

CATS AT THE BEACH

Second Chance Animal Rescue, Craigieburn, Melbourne

A Melbourne Animal non for profit rescue charity had an amazing facility upgrade and was looking to brighten the animals rooms with some fun themed rooms. I worked with the organiser on a theme that she had in mind to develop the design. Painting "the cats at the beach" room over a working bee weekend with other volunteers was an amazing experience and opportunity to help our furry friends.

RESIDENTIAL KITCHEN

This kitchen was looking for a refresh. Something bright, fresh and fun that reflected the young family. Designing the imagery to work with the uneven surfaces and wrap around the walls organically and with flow, as the outside flowers might. Mimicing the vines out the windows that weave out over and around their fences bringing these elements in. Introducing aspects from their own backyard such as the foliage, plants, flowers and colour.

KIDS ROOM - UNDERWATER WORLD

My version of underwater world (in Canada)
. Blackboard whale, fishing nets, the underneath of a boat (positioned in a terribly awkward ceiling corner nook), under water ocean inspired ceilings, seaweed, seahorses, 3D turtles and more... thankful to the family for giving me free reign to deliver my vision. What a blast.
.
Canadian friends will remember these...it all seems like so many moons ago. Still #inspiredbynature_
